All Crosswalks Lead to Spaceship Earth at Epcot
Crosswalks across drive lanes seemingly lead to Spaceship Earth in Epcot at Walt Disney World, as some dark clouds hang in the sky overhead.
Whenever we get to a Disney parking lot and get to park close enough to walk, we count that as a blessing. I know that the parking lot trams are nice because of the size of the parking lots, and if we were parking far back from where we need to be, we definitely ride the tram. Those trams are even more helpful at the end of a long day, when you really, really don’t want to walk a long way back to your car, too.
However, getting to skip the tram line and just walk straight to your car is really nice as well. I’m sure it is just because everyone else is just as tired as we are, but waiting for a tram at the end of a long day of park visiting seems to be really stressful at times, even when they have the trams coming one right after another to pick up all of the guests who are waiting to find their cars. So to be able to avoid that last bit of stress at the end of the day is cool, even if it involves a few hundred more steps than you might have to take from riding the tram. After all, we have been walking all day, so what is just a little bit more. Our feet are going to be tired either way, anyway. And our blood pressure might thank us for the reduced stress, too.
For this photo, we had just parked up at the front of the Epcot parking lot, and I liked how the crosswalk stripes lead you right to Spaceship Earth. Of course, that is a bit deceiving, because when you get to the cream-colored sidewalk, you have to walk off to the right quite a ways to go through the bag check/security area before actually entering the park. So the crosswalk leads you to Epcot, but you have to take some turns to get there. Again, just a few more steps for those of you who use stepcounters to log your day and help you get more steps than your friends back home.

About the Photo
As you can probably guess, I went pretty extreme with the processing for this one. But when Spaceship Earth is gray, most of the pavement is gray, and the sky is gray from the clouds, it helps to do something to make it look more interesting. The clouds look much more ominous in the processed version, but in real life they weren’t quite that threatening, even if they did bring us a little rain throughout the day.
Also, I really like the texture on the pavement in the foreground here. There was actually a bit more pavement in the foreground in the original frame thanks to the fisheye lens, but I cropped it to 16x9 to put a little more focus on Spaceship Earth rather than on the pavement.
This may actually be a little bit too much processing for your taste, but that’s okay. To each his own, and that’s why I don’t process every photo to look like this one. This was created using various Nik Filters in Photoshop, by the way.
