A Visit to Jones Chapel Cemetery (a video)
A couple of weekends ago, we made a visit to the Jones Chapel Cemetery. It didn’t take long to get there, just a walk down the road from our house. But even though it is close by, it is really neat to see. Here is a video look at our visit:
Some notes about the video:
There is quite a bit of history here. I just wish I knew what it was. The oldest person there was born in 1764, and there are people who have been buried there in the past few years, too, so quite a bit of time is covered in this small cemetery. I’m sure each person there has a story they could tell, too. Just imagine what those stories might be.
Jaylin really was with us. Even though you only see Laura walking down the street and then back to the house, you can catch a glimpse of Jaylin in the video, too. He just made a habit of staying behind me most of the time when I was filming, for whatever reason. Maybe it isn’t cool to be in your dad’s videos.
It was late winter, almost spring. All of the dead leaves around make it look like we visited in the fall, but it really was March. Everything just hadn’t quite started blooming out yet.
I took lots of photos. As you can guess if you have been around here at Burnsland much at all, I took several photos. And in fact this wasn’t my first time to do so. You can see some other Jones Chapel Cemetery photos elsewhere on this site. And the ones that I took on this visit will eventually be here, too. I thought about having one big long post with lots of photos and the video, but instead I decided to separate them out.
I don’t know what the actual name of the cemetery is. The street is named Jones Chapel, and the maps shows that there used to be an actual Jones Chapel there, so I call it Jones Chapel Cemetery for lack of a better name. And I don’t know for certain if the chapel used to be right there by the cemetery or not. Don’t you hate it when you have more questions than answers?
We went back the next day. From our house to the cemetery and back is a 3 mile walk, so it was good exercise. That might become our regular long exercise walk now. Although we won’t always stop to look around at the cemetery when we reach that point. Unless we need to stop and rest for a minute. A short rest in a place of eternal rest? That’s kind of catchy.
