A Tunnel to the Beach

At Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, Florida, these “tunnels” through the trees and growth lead from the parking lot to the beach. I like how they block the view of the beach from the parking lot, in addition to blocking the sound of the waves. Once you walk through, it suddenly hits you that you are actually at the beach, complete with all the sights and sounds that you would expect to find there.

All of the growth also serves to block the beach from the views of the parking lot, although you can still see the tops of the hotels and other surrounding buildings towering up over the trees. Still, it is nice to have that separation there.

And right now, it is nothing like beach weather here at home. After having several weeks of consistently above-freezing temperatures, the winter weather has returned. Which is fitting, because it is winter, after all. But the cold weather does make me dream of a nice, warm day on a beach somewhere.

But then I am the kind of guy who has beach dreams in warm weather, too. Those aren’t just limited to cold weather days. Pretty much any day is a good day for a beach dream.

Oh well, it is nice to dream, right? Maybe some day.
