A Day at Sea on the Disney Fantasy

Sailing and Relaxing

On this 7-night cruise, we had not one but two days at sea. I enjoy days like that because they give you plenty of time to enjoy everything on the ship without feeling like you are missing something in whatever port you are at, because you are just out in the water on your ship. Some people might look at it as being stuck on the ship, but not me. There is plenty to see and do on the ship. And then I am also content just to sit and watch the water, and we did a good bit of that, too.

At the time of this photo, there was probably some sort of entertainment on the large Funnel Vision screen, although I do not have any record of what it was. And because so many people aren’t looking at the screen, this might have been in between movies, too.

Also in this photo, you can see the trail of smoke coming out of the funnel stack and going out behind the ship. In case you were wondering why there was a brownish curling section in the middle of the photo, that is the smoke from the engines. Both of our days at sea were quite windy days, and that helped blow the smoke out behind us. Actually, I did not notice the smoke in person, but it showed up in the processing of the photo.

Just Relax

I have learned over the years that some people have a difficult time relaxing. Some people feel like they must be doing something active and/or productive all of the time, or otherwise, they are just wasting time.

However, I have come to love times when I do not have to be doing something. Some people might call it boring, but I call it relaxing. I can’t remember the last time I was bored, because it is nice to have no responsibilities or worries for a little while and just enjoy being where you are and who you are with. We need those times to give our brains and our bodies a break.

We did our fair share of relaxing on this cruise, especially on each day at sea, while also enjoying all of the things that we did, too. And it was all good.

Take some time to relax and just enjoy life sometimes.

And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. - Genesis 2:2

About the Photo

In the original photo, the sun had washed out much of the color. In addition to that, the sky was a bit hazy instead of clear blue. To get the look that I wanted, I used a variety of techniques in Luminar Neo, including increasing the color saturation a bit, working with the Hue/Saturation/Lightness sliders for individual colors, and modifying the highlight and shadow tones. All of that gave the sunny look that I wanted.

I have not done one of these in a while, but here is a before-and-after comparison to show the changes. The “before” version is on the left, and you can see the almost white sky and washed out colors compared to the “after” version on the right.

Just a reminder to shoot in Raw mode and spend some time improving your photos!
