A Busy Street in Bangkok

A street in Bangkok, Thailand, is filled with people, vehicles, and street vendors, as tall buildings tower over the scene.

Bangkok has been on my mind quite a bit lately. Maybe that is because Gary and Michelle Ford are here right now, and I have had several chances to talk to them as they are making plans to go back. Or maybe it is because this time last year the anticipation was building over my trip, which was last May. Or maybe it is just because it was really a cool place to visit, and I still have lots of photos from the trip that I haven’t shared yet.

For whatever reason, I liked this street level photo, as it gives the feeling of being down in the trenches with everything towering above you. And wires running everywhere. And people going everywhere. And yet all of it feels orderly and normal, without a lot of chaos that you might expect from a city that size. The traffic was a bit of chaos, but that was about it.

However, I wouldn’t necessarily want to be the driver of this car:

Yes, cars do go up and down those streets filled with people. And it never did seem like a problem, at least that we saw. But some of those cars seemed to get really close to us as we were walking. Close enough that I had to jump out of the way of the side mirrors a couple of times. Fortunately, they do drive pretty slowly through there. So you just have to remember not to be in too big of a hurry if you are driving down one of those side streets.

And it looks like some of those drains might hurt if you hit them the wrong way, too. Lots of reasons to leave the driving to others there. I was glad to do it.

About the photo

This photo was the final result from the work described in yesterday’s Steve’s Photography Tips post:

As was mentioned there, this one was processed entirely in Lightroom, using a standard preset and adjusting it slightly. However, I did bring it into Photoshop to add the logo and crop for the second photo. You can do that in Lightroom as well, but since I am more familiar with Photoshop these days, I just used that for the quick things. Even though processing this one in Lightroom was actually really quick (except for getting all of the screenshots for yesterday’s animated GIF).
