2022 Disney Cruise Report Day 6 - Semi-Formal Night

As Day 6 of the 2022 Disney Cruise Trip Report continues, we have finished our day at sea on the Disney Fantasy, and it is time for semi-formal night. Lots of photos ahead!

2022 Disney Cruise

Thursday, June 9 (continued)

Lazy days at sea seem to go by way too quickly on these cruises, and it was already getting to be time to shower and dress for the evening. So we headed back to our room to do just that, although we did not have to be in a hurry. This night was Semi-Formal Night, compared to Formal Night on our first day at sea, so we brought appropriate clothes to dress up for the night. Jaylin decided to go see the magician, which was the main show of the night in the Walt Disney Theatre, but Laura and I decided to skip it.

I always take a photo of these bedside lamps in our room on each cruise, because I always enjoy them.

Laura was outside on the verandah using the glass door as a mirror. She didn’t know I was taking her photo.

The rest of our group, minus Jaylin, met up for some Semi-Formal Night photos with the ship photographers. It was fun to see the characters dressed up, and it was fun to get our photos taken in front of the various backdrops as well. Jaylin eventually caught up with us for a few photos, too, having enjoyed the magic show.

Around that time, there was a Princess event, where several of the princesses came out and stood on the small stage in front of Royal Court, and you could stand in front of them and have your photo taken. Those kinds of things were one of the few Covid reminders on the cruise because you could not go up and stand next to the princesses or give them a hug. You had to stand on the marker on the floor well in front of them. We are not that much into the princesses, so we did not participate, but it was interesting to watch for a bit.

The previous night, we had seen a whole family dressed up as the Incredibles, with the full costumes, masks, and everything. It was not a dress-up night, but apparently, they had decided to all dress up. On this night, they were at it again, as they were behind us in some of the photo lines. Two of them were Mary Poppins and Bert, and a grandfather and granddaughter were Maurice and Belle. And they had almost professional-looking costumes both nights, too. I started to wonder what else they might have dressed up as on other nights.

By that time we were starting to get hungry, even after our big buffet lunch. And right on time, since it was time for our dinner seating. Our dinner once again was in Enchanted Garden, down on Deck 3. We were a little early as usual, so I enjoyed looking at the art hanging in the hallway. I missed the art gallery that was on the Disney Dream, and that I guessed used to be on the Fantasy as well, but at least they still had a few pieces on display.

We were shown to our table, the same one as before, of course. Randy and Yuni brought us our drinks and took our orders. For our second night in Enchanted Garden, the dinner menu was different than before, as was true of all of the restaurants. I selected a vegetable lasagna, which was of course delicious, as was everything else I had that night.

Kaitlyn and me. As you can tell, we never did sit exactly grouped by families.

Kyle had ordered a steak. When they brought it to him, he said that on the last cruise that he was on (when he was much younger, by the way), the server on that cruise had cut his steak for him. Randy gave him a look as if to say, “There is no way I am doing that,” without actually saying it out loud, but we could all tell he did not want to. But Yuni came over and said, “I will cut it for you,” and she did! And she even fed Kyle a couple of bites of it! Needless to say, we all got a big laugh out of that, because it was hilarious!

Once again after dinner, Laura, Jaylin, and I went for a nighttime walk on the Deck 4 Promenade, as is our custom. Yes, we go for walks at home, too. But it just is not the same as being able to walk on a ship in the ocean with the motion of the ship and the cool sea breeze, with the lifeboats overhead. I knew we were going to miss that when the cruise ended.

We went back to our room, where Reeda had left us a very interesting towel turtle. When we get home it just won’t be the same that someone does not make us towel animals every night. Not that I plan on learning how to do it.

Jaylin decided to turn in for the night after that. But I had been wanting to go up to the upper decks and take some nighttime photos, and time for that was running out. Laura decided to go with me. Once we got up there, she saw that Cruella was showing on the FunnelVision screen. We had watched the movie once before, but neither of us remembered that much about it. So she stood by a railing and watched some of the movie while I went around taking my photos. There are so many interesting night views on the ship, and I was glad to have the opportunity to capture some of them.

Nighttime on the Disney Fantasy during our Disney Cruise

I took way too many photos to share here, so I will include more in a nighttime photo post.

By the time I was finished with my photos, Laura was pretty well invested in the movie. So we both stood there and watched the whole thing to the end. I suppose we could have gone down to the main pool deck and gotten a chair somewhere. But it was a nice enough night out, and the breeze was blowing where we were, but not too strong, so it was all good.

The movie is over. Time for bed.

By the time we got back to the room, it was well after midnight, and Jaylin was sound asleep. That is the kind of family we are. The kid goes to bed early while the old folks stay out late! It did not take long for us to be sound asleep, too, to rest up for the next fun day ahead.

Up next, the beginning of our last full day on the cruise! Check back soon for more from our 2022 Disney Cruise!
