2022 Disney Cruise Report Day 6 - Another Day at Sea
It is already Day 6 of the 2022 Disney Cruise Trip Report! We wake up to enjoy a day at sea on the Disney Fantasy…
Thursday, June 9
This was to be another lazy day, at least in the way that we do lazy on cruises, because it was another day at sea. But we kept to our routine of waking up at 7:00 to get a good start on the day.
After admiring the sea view from our verandah, we headed to Cabanas for breakfast as usual with most of our group. I was going to stick to my usual breakfast routine, but they threw me a curve. Instead of Mickey waffles, they had Mickey waffle churros. What? So instead I had a pastry and fresh pineapple. In retrospect, I should have tried the waffle churros, but for whatever reason, I did not. Not sure what happened to my adventurous side of trying something new. But it was all good.
Good morning from the Disney Fantasy at sea!
We had dressed for fun, so after breakfast, we went to the Aqua Duck to get some more rides in. When we got up to the line, the crew member at the entrance looked at Laura and said, “There’s my favorite rider!” Her laughing and screaming all the way down had made her a fan!
Waiting on the steps up the side of the funnel, we were blown about by the wind. For this cruise, most anytime we were at sea was a windy day! But it was warm enough that the wind felt good, so it wasn’t a problem at all. The same again with the water in the Aqua Duck - it was cool, but it felt good on the sunny day.
We reached the bottom, and we decided to go again. This time, Laura’s friend was at the top launching riders. It was fun again! And then when we got to the bottom, the line still was not all that long, so we got back in for one more ride. Three rides without too much of a wait. There are perks to getting up early on a sea day!
Our next stop was the Quiet Cove pool once again since we had enjoyed it a few days earlier. This time, we did not have the pool all to ourselves, but that was okay. There was still plenty of room for us to enjoy it for a while. Laura and I are not all that outgoing, so it is always surprising when someone sits down in the pool near you and just starts talking. I guess we did not talk much, because they would then start talking to someone else nearby, who would jump in on the conversation. So it was interesting to listen in to complete strangers talking to each other, even if I did not have anything to contribute to the conversation.
Nothing like a happy, lazy day at sea!
Eventually, Laura decided to move up to a chair on Deck 13 to get some sun, even though it was a bit more hazy than sunny. Jaylin, who had slept in, wandered up and found us around that time, so he sat with us for a while. I figured that was a good time to go on another photo excursion, taking some photos of the upper decks of the Disney Fantasy. So far, it was an enjoyable and relaxed day at sea, and we were all making the most of it.

Jaylin even joined us for a while!
But even after a big breakfast, hunger started catching up with us again, so we headed back to our room to change into regular clothes instead of swimming clothes. For lunch, we and my parents had decided to do something different than our usual counter-service lunch at Flo’s. So when we were all changed and ready, we headed up to Cabanas for a buffet lunch. Pizza, pasta, shrimp, fish, vegetables, and a few other things filled my plate, at least until I ate them. And dessert, too. And it was all good. Hopefully, eating a big lunch would not ruin my dinner! But that was still several hours away, after all.

One of the things I enjoyed about this cruise was that Captain Daniele would always point out where we were sailing. Earlier in the day, we had sailed between Cuba and Haiti, and at lunch, we were passing by several of the Bahamas islands. It was interesting to see them as we passed by, even if there was not much to see on the islands. When I would think about it, I would mark our location on a GPS app on my phone, just to keep up with where we were.
Hello, tiny islands!

After lunch, Laura and Jaylin decided to get something from the Sweet on You Shop. Jaylin got an ice cream something or other, and Laura got a Captain Mickey cookie. I was still full from lunch, so I skipped it. But they enjoyed what they had.

It was Matching Shirt Day for the girls in our group, so after lunch, we got together to get some photos of them in their matching shirts. There were surprisingly very few people in the Atrium Lobby, so we used that for several of the photos. What good are matching shirts if you don’t take photos? We also visited the ship shops while we were in that area, too.
Are you ready for matching shirt photos? Because here they come!

We had a relaxed afternoon after that. Laura and Jaylin played some shuffleboard because it seems to be an unwritten rule that you have to play shuffleboard on a cruise. It has become a bit of a family tradition, I guess, although we never quite exactly know the rules. Laura and I also spent some time just hanging out on the Deck 4 Promenade, sitting in the deck chairs and watching the water go by. Days at sea are perfect for that kind of thing. And then after we got thirsty, we wandered up to the pool deck to get a cup of Coca-Cola. Or two or three, because those cups are not all that big.

We also stopped by Guest Services, because Laura had a couple of gift cards that she wanted to apply to our account. They recommend making a Guest Services appointment using the Disney Cruise Line app, but there is also a standby line, so Laura got in that. Fortunately, there were enough people working that the line moved pretty quickly. And the crew member that helped her was knowledgeable so that it was a quick process when it was Laura’s turn.
Hey, where did everyone go?
Ta-da!
One thing I had remarked about a few times was how we had not seen Captain Daniele for the whole cruise. That was different from past cruises where the captain always seemed to be out somewhere. While Laura was being helped at Guest Services, a few teenagers were being helped by another Guest Services crew member nearby. They were doing some sort of scavenger hunt, and they could get extra points by getting a photo with the captain. The crew member made a few calls and then gave the teenagers some instructions that I could not hear. I thought about asking the crew member helping Laura if we could meet the captain, too, but I decided against it. Oh well, no photo with the captain this time for us. Sorry, Captain Daniele.
